Toronto FC defender Walker Zimmerman has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 5 following an influential all-round performance in the Reds’ 2-1 win against Columbus Crew at BMO Field.
With the match level at one in the closing stages of the Saturday afternoon clash, Walker Zimmerman rose highest to glance home compatriot Djordje Mihailovic’s out-swinging corner beyond Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte.
The 83rd minute goal, Zimmerman’s first for TFC and 27th in MLS play, proved decisive, lifting the Reds to a 2-1 victory and their first home win of the 2026 MLS campaign.
In addition to scoring the game-winner, the American centre-back delivered a commanding all-round performance, completing 33 passes, covering 9.51 km and leading the side with seven aerial challenges.
The honour marks Walker Zimmerman’s first MLS Team of the Matchday selection with Toronto FC and the 28th of his MLS career. In total, Toronto FC have now earned two MLS Team of the Matchday selections during the 2026 MLS regular season – Richie Laryea (1) and Walker Zimmerman (1).
