Toronto FC Academy’s U-15 team won the Premier bracket at the 2026 Generation adidas Cup on Saturday, April 4 at IMG Academy. Led by head coach Taylor Lord, the U-15 team defeated South Korean club Seongnam FC 2-1 in the championship match to secure the title.

Over the 10-day tournament, the U-15s played seven matches, including three games against top international clubs and four competitive MLS Academies. A 1-0 win over Bayern München in the final group stage match sparked a five-game unbeaten run, during which the team scored seven goals and conceded just one. After defeating MLS sides St. Louis City SC and Houston Dynamo in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals, TFC faced FC Barcelona in the semifinals. A lone goal from midfielder Mason Fuller and a shutout from goalkeeper Nate Cool, proved the difference in a 1-0 victory over a top Spanish club that secured their place in the final.

Facing another tough and technical international opponent in Seongnam FC, Toronto FC U-15 forwards, Omar Singh and David Legrand each found the back of the net in the 2-1 championship victory. TFC U-15 captain Jayden Awitor anchored the team from start to finish, playing every minute of every match throughout the tournament. Ahead of the tournament, Awitor was named to the 2026 Generation adidas Cup Rising XI, recognizing 11 top players to watch across the 80-team field.

Toronto FC’s U-16 team also impressed, topping their group to earn a place in the top Championship bracket. They squared off against a competitive Real Salt Lake in the quarterfinals and fought hard despite falling 2-nil. The U-16 team concluded their tournament in Florida with showcase matches against Colorado Rapids and international side SK Slavia Prague.

The Academy now returns to Toronto for regular season action and turns its focus to the MLS NEXT Flex event later this month in Dallas, Texas.
