Canada Soccer announced today that Tim Fortier from the Toronto FC Academy has been named to the Men’s U-20 Canadian National Team for the distinguished Maurice Revello Tournament (formerly Toulon Tournament) in France from May 31 to June 1. Selected by U-20 Head Coach, Andrew Olivieri, Fortier is one of 24 athletes on the Canadian roster to compete in the 52nd edition of one of the most highly respected tournaments there is in youth competition.
Canada has been invited to take part in the Maurice Revello Tournament for the second time, the first since 2018, a team that held now Senior Canadian National Team players such as Theo Bair, Derek Cornelius, Jonathan David, and Liam Millar. Canada is one of 10 nations including, China, Colombia, DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Japan, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Venezuela set to compete. In April, Canada was drawn into Group B alongside Ivory Coast, Japan, Portugal, and Venezuela.
Fortier, 17, will be the fourth Toronto FC Academy athlete to represent Canada in the Maurice Revello Tournament. Most recently, Fortier has spent time with Toronto FC II, where he has made a total of 24 appearances (17 starts) and registered two assists for the Young Reds since making his professional debut against Chicago Fire FC II on March 13, 2025. Earlier in the year, the young midfielder also joined Toronto FC for their 2026 preseason training camp in Spain, where he made two appearances during the preseason friendlies against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC and Fredrikstad FK.
Internationally, Fortier has spent time with the Canadian National Team across the U-15, U-17, and U-20 age groups. The midfielder was part of the U-20 Canadian team that qualified for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship after finishing top of their group at the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Qualifiers in Managua, Nicaragua in March 2026. The Toronto, Ontario native was part of the squad that made history when the men’s U-17 national team recorded their first ever win at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 against Uganda on November 5, 2025. That same tournament, Fortier made four appearances, all starts, and was named the Player of the Match against France on November 8, 2025.
