HOME SWEET HOME
Toronto FC return from the March international break to host the Colorado Rapids in their sixth match of the 2026 MLS season on Saturday afternoon. Following a draw against Red Bull New York in their 2026 Home Opener and a win over the Columbus Crew a week later, the Reds hold a 126W-99L-85T all-time record (463 points) in MLS regular season matches played on home soil.

THROUGH THE YEARS
TFC welcome Western Conference side Colorado Rapids for the 21st all-time regular season meeting between the two clubs. Historically, Toronto hold a 9W-8L-3T record through their first 20 encounters with the Rapids. Since the Reds’ inaugural season in 2007, the two sides have met 10 times at BMO Field, where Toronto boasts a strong 8W-1L-1T record. Unbeaten in their last three home meetings against Colorado, TFC will look to secure their first home victory over the Rapids at BMO Field since September 15, 2019, when goals from Tsubasa Endoh, Alejandro Pozuelo and Jonathan Osorio sealed a 3-2 win in a five-goal thriller.
ONE STEP FORWARD
The Reds resume action on Matchday 6 on the back of an unbeaten month of March. After securing their first victory of the campaign against FC Cincinnati on March 8, Toronto followed it up with a 1-1 draw in their 2026 MLS Home Opener against Red Bull New York, led by former TFC captain Michael Bradley, on March 14. Dániel Sallói found the net for a second consecutive match, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s late equalizer earned a point for the visitors. New signing Josh Sargent also made his club debut, delivering an impactful 20-minute cameo off the bench.
On March 21, the Reds recorded a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over the Columbus Crew at BMO Field. Josh Sargent made his first TFC start in the match, which saw Wessam Abou Ali open the scoring early for the visitors before José Cifuentes levelled in the 56th minute with his first goal for the club, finishing Dániel Sallói’s low cross for the winger’s first assist for TFC. The hosts’ sustained pressure ultimately paid off late, as substitute Djordje Mihailovic’s out-swinging corner was met by a glancing header from Walker Zimmerman. The 83rd minute strike proved decisive, sealing all three points and the club’s first home win of the 2026 MLS season.
TEAM OF THE MATCHDAY
On March 23, TFC defender Walker Zimmerman was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 5 following an influential all-round performance in the Reds’ 2-1 home win against Columbus Crew. With the match level at one, Zimmerman rose highest to glance home compatriot Djordje Mihailovic’s corner past Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte. The late strike, Zimmerman’s first for TFC and 27th in MLS play, ultimately sealed the victory, lifting the Reds to a 2-1 result and their first home win of the 2026 campaign. In addition to notching the game-winner, the American centre-back delivered a commanding display, completing 33 passes, covering 9.51 km and leading the side with seven aerial challenges. The honour marked Zimmerman’s first MLS Team of the Matchday selection with Toronto FC and the 28th of his MLS career. In total, Toronto FC have now earned two MLS Team of the Matchday selections during the 2026 MLS regular season – Richie Laryea (1) and Walker Zimmerman (1).
HOMETOWN HERO HITS HISTORIC 400
On March 21, Toronto FC captain Jonathan Osorio made his 400th appearance for the club across all competitions, becoming the first player in team history to reach the milestone. The Canadian midfielder is only the third player in MLS history to achieve the feat with a single club, following Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City) and Diego Chará (Portland Timbers). Osorio made his TFC debut as a 20-year-old against Sporting Kansas City on March 9, 2013, and has since helped deliver multiple trophies for his hometown club, including a historic treble (MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield and Canadian Championship) in 2017, along with a host of individual accolades and club milestones along the way. Named the eighth captain in club history in January 2024, the Toronto native is now in his 14th MLS season and has been an ever-present in the heart of Robin Fraser’s midfield, playing all 450 minutes of the Reds’ campaign in 2026. A special pre-match ceremony honouring Osorio’s historic milestone will take place prior to kick-off against Colorado on Saturday at BMO Field.
MARCH MOVES
The Reds closed out the final week of the MLS Primary Transfer Window with moves involving a pair of TFC Academy products. On March 23, Toronto FC loaned defender Adam Pearlman to Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League for the remainder of the 2026 season. The 20-year-old, who signed as a Homegrown player in February 2024, spent the 2025 campaign on loan with Halifax Wanderers FC, recording two goals and two assists in 28 appearances (all starts). Prior to his time with Halifax, Pearlman signed a short-term loan with TFC and made his club debut as a substitute against St. Louis City SC on July 8, 2023. The Maple, Ontario native previously made 72 appearances in three seasons with Toronto FC II after joining the TFC Academy in October 2016.
Three days later, Toronto FC acquired up to $400,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for defender Kosi Thompson – $200,000 guaranteed in 2026, with an additional $200,000 in conditional GAM tied to performance-based metrics. Thompson, 23, made 113 combined appearances across five seasons with the Reds after signing as a Homegrown player in February 2022. Prior to joining TFC, Thompson made 27 appearances for TFC II during the 2021 USL League One season. He originally joined the TFC Academy in February 2015 and was part of the club’s U-16 Dallas Cup-winning side in 2019 and subsequently earned Generation adidas Best XI honours.
FOR CLUB AND COUNTRY
Four Toronto FC players featured for their respective national teams during the March international window. Club captain Jonathan Osorio and defender Richie Laryea represented Canada in a pair of friendlies at BMO Field, playing to a 2-2 draw against Iceland on March 28 before a goalless draw versus Tunisia three days later. Laryea started both matches, logging 166 minutes across the two fixtures, while Osorio made back-to-back substitute appearances, featuring in 59 second-half minutes off the bench. Forward Derrick Etienne Jr. joined the Haiti Men’s National Team for two matches in Toronto, remaining an unused substitute in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Tunisia before coming off the bench to play 27 minutes in Les Grenadiers’ 1-1 draw against Iceland. Defender BenjamÃn Kuscevic represented Chile during the FIFA Series 2026â„¢ in New Zealand, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in La Roja’s 4-2 victory over Cape Verde before featuring for 45 minutes as a second-half substitute in a 4-1 loss to New Zealand.

RAPIDS REUNION
Saturday’s Matchday 6 clash is set to feature several figures with ties to both clubs. Toronto FC Head Coach Robin Fraser led the Colorado Rapids from 2019 to 2023, guiding the side to their first-ever Western Conference first-place finish in 2021 and finishing runner-up for Sigi Schmid MLS Coach of the Year Award. He compiled a 47W-48L-34T record across all competitions. As a player, the two-time MLS Defender of the Year also made 81 appearances for Colorado across three seasons (2001-2003).
Prior to joining TFC in August 2025, midfielder Djordje Mihailovic played under Fraser in Colorado (2024, 2025), registering 23 goals and 22 assists in 63 appearances, including a club-record 25 goal contributions (11G, 14A) in a single MLS season in 2024. Goalkeeper William Yarbrough also played under Fraser (2020 – 2023), making 107 appearances with 35 clean sheets and helping the club reach the MLS Cup Playoffs twice.
Four members of Robin Fraser’s Coaching Staff in Toronto also share Rapids ties. After spending two seasons playing for TFC, Steven Beitashour made 42 MLS appearances for the Rapids (2020 – 2023) under Fraser. Wolde Harris scored 28 goals in 102 appearances across four seasons (1997-1999, 2005) with Colorado and later served as an Assistant Coach (2021 – 2023). Neil Emblen and Jase Kim spent seven seasons (2018-2024) with the Rapids, as an Assistant Coach and a First Team Video Analyst respectively.
New Rapids signing Kosi Thompson could make his club debut against his hometown club after spending five seasons with Toronto FC, where he made 113 combined appearances. He joined Colorado on March 26 in exchange for up to $400,000 in GAM. Former TFC defender Drew Moor currently serves as an Analyst and Club Ambassador for the Rapids, while also working as an Elite Development Coach with the Rapids Academy. He made 108 appearances for TFC (2016 – 2019), winning three Canadian Championships, one MLS Cup and one Supporters’ Shield and ranks 15th all-time in club appearances.
