THROUGH THE YEARS
TFC host Western Conference and Supporters’ Shield leaders San Jose Earthquakes in the 20th all-time regular season meeting between the two clubs. Historically, Toronto holds a 5W-6L-8T record across their first 19 regular season meetings with the Quakes. At BMO Field, TFC have earned results in four of the last five meetings against the Quakes (3W-1L-1T), dating back to June 7, 2014. The Reds will look to record their first home victory over San Jose since September 9, 2017, when a Jozy Altidore brace, along with goals from Víctor Vázquez and Jonathan Osorio, secured a commanding 4-0 win during their historic treble-winning season.
ONE STEP FORWARD
The Reds enter Matchday 11 looking to return to winning ways after their seven-match unbeaten run came to an end last Saturday.
On Wednesday, April 22, TFC and Philadelphia Union played out a dramatic 3-3 draw at BMO Field. Goals on either side of half-time from Milan Iloski and Danley Jean Jacques gave the visitors a two-goal advantage before Josh Sargent capped off a slick team move with a powerful finish to reduce the deficit. Toronto equalized in the 64th minute through Kobe Franklin, who finished José Cifuentes’ pass emphatically in off the far post. Philadelphia restored the lead in the 89th minute via Nathan Harriel before the Reds responded in stoppage time as goalkeeper Luka Gavran ventured forward to glance home Alonso Coello’s delivery in the 96th minute. The goal, Gavran’s first for the club, made him the first goalkeeper in TFC history to score, with the late effort securing a point and extending the club’s unbeaten run to seven matches dating back to March 8. Gavran also became only the third goalkeeper in MLS history to score a goal and the first since Columbus Crew’s William Hesmer on October 16, 2010. The result stretched Toronto’s unbeaten home run to 13 matches at BMO Field (4W-9T) between June 25, 2025 and April 22, 2026.
Three days later, the Reds fell 2-1 to visiting Atlanta United at BMO Field. After a goalless first half, the Five Stripes struck twice through Alexey Miranchuk’s direct free-kick and Tristan Muyumba’s 67th minute finish. Toronto responded immediately, pulling one back in the 71st minute through Emilio Aristizábal’s powerful header from Kobe Franklin’s cross, but Atlanta United ultimately held on for a 2-1 victory and all three points at BMO Field.

AN APRIL AFTERNOON OF FIRSTS
Emilio Aristizábal’s 71st minute consolation strike marked the Colombian attacker’s first goal for TFC as he became the sixth different player to open his account for the Reds this season. On the play, Kobe Franklin recorded his first assist of the 2026 MLS campaign and fifth overall for his hometown club. Toronto FC II midfielder Antone Bossenberry also made his First Team debut, becoming the seventh player to debut for the Reds this season. The Toronto, Ontario native replaced Alonso Coello in the 72nd minute and at 17 years, 8 months and 12 days, Bossenberry became the eighth youngest player in club history to play for Toronto FC.
TRUE NORTH CELEBRATION
On Saturday, as Toronto FC takes the pitch for one of the final home matches at BMO Field prior to the international break, the club will host a celebratory match for the Canadian Men’s National Team (CMNT) competing in the FIFA World Cup 2026™. The True North Match will honour the players representing the country on the world stage while marking a milestone as BMO Field transitions into a host venue for the globe’s top talent, including Team Canada on Friday, June 12. Toronto FC and BMO will formally hand the keys of the stadium over to Canada Soccer in a pre-game ceremony featuring Kevin Blue, CEO & General Secretary of Canada Soccer, Catherine Roche, CMO of BMO, Jason Hernandez, TFC General Manager, Jimmy Brennan, TFC alumni ambassador, former club captain and Canadian international, as well as additional tenured club representatives. The milestone moment, taking place with TFC fans proudly in the stands, further illustrates the unifying power of sport and the connection between club and country. The Reds will also debut a new “For Club and Country” apparel capsule, designed for fans to showcase their pride for both Toronto FC and Canada together.

QUAKES CONNECTIONS
A trio of Toronto FC personnel have previously featured for Saturday’s opponents, the San Jose Earthquakes. Goalkeeper William Yarbrough, who joined the Reds in January, spent the 2024 season with San Jose, making 22 appearances across all competitions. He made his Quakes debut against Seattle Sounders on March 23, 2024, and recorded his first clean sheet for the club against Chicago Fire on July 7, 2024.
Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez was selected by the Earthquakes in the 2007 MLS Expansion Draft following his first three MLS seasons with MetroStars and Chivas USA. The defender went on to make 175 appearances across seven seasons (2008-2014) including his club debut against LA Galaxy on April 3, 2008. TFC Assistant Coach Steven Beitashour was drafted in the second round (30th overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by his hometown club. The full-back made 93 appearances across four seasons (2010-2013), including his club debut against Chicago Fire on April 10, 2010. Both Hernandez and Beitashour were part of a resolute defensive core that anchored San Jose’s back line and powered the Quakes to the 2012 Supporters’ Shield
