Toronto FC (3W-2L-2T, 11 points) extended their unbeaten streak to five matches matches following a 1-1 tie against FC Cincinnati (2W-4L-1T, 7 points) on a sunny Saturday afternoon at BMO Field.

TFC Head Coach Robin Fraser made three changes from the side that recorded a dramatic 3-2 victory over Colorado Rapids last Saturday with Zane Monlouis, Matheus Pereira and Derrick Etienne Jr. coming in for Walker Zimmerman, Raheem Edwards and Deandre Kerr.

The two Eastern Conference sides played out a tightly contested, goalless opening half, with both goalkeepers, Luka Gavran and Roman Celentano, called into action for a pair of saves apiece.

Gavran was on hand to deny close-range efforts from Tom Barlow and Matt Miazga, while Celentano kept out early attempts from Benjamín Kuscevic and Derrick Etienne Jr. within the opening five minutes.

The Hamilton, Ontario native was once again called into action nine minutes into the restart, denying former Red Nick Hagglund’s powerful header.

With both sides pushing to break the deadlock, the Orange & Blue were reduced to 10 men in the 71st minute when Togolese striker Kevin Denkey was shown two yellow cards in quick succession.

The Reds found the breakthrough in the 83rd minute, as Josh Sargent’s header from Daniel Sallói cross was turned into his own net by FC Cincinnati’s Gilberto Flores.

The visitors, however, drew level in stoppage time through Kenji Mboma Dem, whose 92nd minute strike from a swift counter-attack ensured each side earned a point apiece from the spring afternoon affair at BMO Field.

Next up, Toronto FC welcome Austin FC of the Western Conference to BMO Field on Saturday, April 18. Kick-off from BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario is set for 1:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast globally on Apple TV.
