Academy Update

U-16s finish strong in Mexico

The Toronto FC Academy U-16 (2001) team wrapped up their Liga MX International tournament last week.


The team got their first win of the tournament on Tuesday against Mexican side Santos Laguna. The Reds opened the scoring on a goal from Jacen Russell-Rowe.

Just a few minutes later Lucas Areco doubled the Reds lead as he streaked in and finished past the Laguna ā€˜keeper. Laguna added a goal in injury time to make it interesting but the Reds held on for the 2-1 victory.

The boys then went into a tough match against eventual finalists FC Dallas. FCD struck first off a free kick but the resilient Reds battled back to tie it just 10 minutes later on another goal from Areco.

The boys finished the tournament with a hard fought match against the eventual Champions C.F. Pachuca. Pachuca took the match 2-0 to finish their group stage undefeated. The Reds finished the tournament with a record of 1-2-4.


OSL and OPDL Update

The Toronto FC Academy U-17 (2000) team that competes in the OSL U-21 Elite division defeated Wexford High Profile U21 3-1 on Thursday night. Goals from Julian Altobelli, Tom Akinola and Luke Singh powered the Reds to victory.


The Toronto FC Academy U-15 (2002) team that competes in the OPDL U-16 division defeated West Ottawa 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. Malik Henry had a brace and Julian Accettola and Ryan Fazzalari added the others in the win.


The Toronto FC Academy U-14 (2003) team that competes in the OPDL U-15 division played to a 3-3 draw against Whitby on Sunday afternoon. Juan Sanchez, Stefano Capano, and Ben Kaplan scored the goals. 


Morgan and Hamilton score for TFC II

Academy graduates Ashtone Morgan and Jordan Hamilton both scored for TFC II in the teamā€™s come from behind 3-2 victory over the Charlotte Independence on Saturday,


Morgan got the comeback started with his first goal for TFC II this season.

And Hamilton capped off the comeback with his fifth goal in just seven USL appearances this season.
