Toronto FC’s preseason may not officially start until Tuesday when the players undergo medicals, but BMO Field was still a busy place Monday. A number of players worked out during the morning and there was a first visit to the stadium for Toronto FC SuperDraft pick Demitrius Omphroy.

Omphroy arrived in town on Sunday and wasted no time getting to see his new surroundings. The 21-year-old defender was selected by the Reds 26th overall from the University of California in the SuperDraft in Baltimore on January 13 and is excited to be given an opportunity with the club.
“Toronto is an awesome city, and looking at the facilities here it is unreal,” said Omphroy. “It is such an exciting experience to be here. I’m ready to go and really looking forward to going to Turkey on Thursday.”
“I think I have only gotten three full nights of sleep since the SuperDraft because I have been looking forward to coming here so much. I have not been able to stop thinking about being here and training with the team. I am looking forward to the challenge and hope that I can contribute something right away.”
“I already know Stefan Frei and I got to meet some of the other guys here this morning. Everybody seems really nice so far and it’s a pretty cool group of guys.”
