New Trialist At Camp

There was a new face on the pitch on Tuesday as Toronto FC’s players went through a double training session in Antalya, Turkey. Kevin Westmaas is the latest trialist to join the squad and arrived at the Calista Luxury Resort on Monday evening. Westmaas is a 23-year-old Dutch left back who was previously part of the youth system at Ajax.




With Dutch winger Bas Ent and Uruguayan forward Santiago Gonzalez now having left training camp, there are currently nine trialists with the squad including Westmaas. The others are Eddy Sidra, Gianluca Zavarise, David Monsalve, Javier Martina, Nick Soolsma, King Osei Ggyan, Elbekay Bouchiba and Chris Hutner.




Date With Dinamo




Toronto FC’s players will travel away from the Calista Luxury Resort for the first time on Thursday when they take on Dinamo Zagreb (10:00 a.m. ET). The match will be played at Dinamo’s training base, located about 10 minutes away.




Disney Update




Next week Toronto FC’s players will be training in Oakville before leaving for Orlando on Monday, February 21 where they will take part in the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic. Toronto’s opening game in that tournament has been confirmed for Thursday, February 24 at 8:00 p.m. against Houston Dynamo. The second game will be on Saturday, February 26 against FC Dallas or Orlando City.
