A Glimpse Into Future Tuesday

Toronto FC supporters could get a glimpse of the future when the team takes to the pitch for the final match of the CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage against Arabe Unido on Tuesday night (kick off 8:00 p.m. live on GOLTV Canada).

Two players from Toronto FC Academy have been added to the preliminary 23-man squad for the match. Ashtone Morgan and Oscar Cordon both trained with the first team on Monday and are available to be selected for the matchday squad.

26. Oscar Cordon
Position: Midfielder
Date of Birth: 18-Jan-93
Born: Canada
Previous club: Dixie
Community: Toronto

TFC Academy Manager Stuart Neely: “Oscar Cordon is of Guatemalan background. He is a tremendous, aggressive midfield player. He is very street-smart and is hungry for success. He is well aware of what this opportunity means and I think it will be a very positive experience for him. He has a good work-rate and is very quick to win the ball and make decisions in matches. He has good technique and loves running at players with the ball. He is a very quiet kid who works very hard on the field.”

36. Ashtone Morgan
Position: Left Back
Date of Birth: 9-Feb-91
Born: Canada
Previous Club: Toronto Lynx Juniors
Community: Toronto
Recently represented Canada at U20 level at a training camp/tournament in Spain

TFC Academy Coach Jason Bent: “He is a very athletic attacking left fullback. He is very strong in the tackle and offers a great deal going forward. He has been involved with the Academy since its inception in May 2008 and has worked extremely hard to get to this point. Throughout the season with the Academy he has been a leader. In our last playoff match against Hamilton Croatia he showed fantastic ability on the ball as well as defensively. He has exceptional pace.”
