Nane, Saric Out For Saturday

Toronto FC interim head coach Nick Dasovic expects to be without Joseph Nane and Martin Saric for Saturday’s match at home to San Jose Earthquakes (kick off 4:00 p.m. live on CBC).

The midfield duo both were both injured in the first half of the goalless draw in the Champions League against Cruz Azul in Mexico on Tuesday. Joseph has an ankle injury and Saric left the game with a hamstring strain.

“I don’t think either of them will be available for Saturday,” said Dasovic after training at BMO Field on Thursday. “I think Saric will be more long term than Nane but I am waiting to find out more from the medical staff.”

Defender Nana Attakora returned to training on Thursday after missing the last three matches away attending a funeral in Africa. “He has had some family issues so we gave him the option to go back home,” explained Dasovic. “He did some extra running after training finished but to be fair Ty stepped in and did really well so Nana has a fight on his hands to get his job back.”

Amadou Sanyang stepped up his recovery from concussion symptoms by joining in the first part of training, but the midfielder is still a long way from being ready to return. “He is doing a bit more but he is still not involved in any contact. He is just doing passing and possession,” said the coach.
