VIDEO: Nick Dasovic speaks to Toronto FC TV following the draw in Mexico City.

Interim Head Coach Nick Dasovic is waiting to find out the extent of injuries picked up by Joseph Nane and Martin Saric. Both midfielders were forced to leave the game at Estadio Azul in the first half.

Dasovic made seven changes to the starting lineup in Mexico and was proud of his players. “Coming after the Houston game and with all of the travel, it was necessary to change things because of some injuries and also the need to keep some guys fresh,” said Dasovic.

“We asked the boys to play a very smart tactical game with a 4-5-1 formation, and they carried it out to a tee. We defended like it was the end of the world. The boys were unbelievable.”

“Maxim Usanov came down with an illness the night before the game so we had to slide Nick Garcia in at right back and he was exceptional. He has been more used to playing centre back and left back, but against a very good left winger he did a great job. Adrian Cann and Ty Harden were also immense at the back, Raivis Hscanovics had a good game and Jon Conway made some great saves and punched clear. But it wasn’t just about the defence, it was a team effort and everybody played their part.”

“After the results against Houston and Cruz Azul we have got some momentum as we head into this afternoon’s match against San Jose Earthquakes, but we are not going to get carried away.”
