Mista Unable To Play In Philadelphia

Mista will not make his Toronto FC debut in this afternoon’s match against Philadelphia Union at PPL Park (
kick off 3:30 p.m. live on CBC
).

The Spanish forward is still waiting to receive his International Transfer Certificate and is therefore unable to be named in the Reds’ squad.

Mista’s signing was announced earlier this month, but due to international transfer regulations, he was not able to play until the transfer window opened on July 15. That date passed on Thursday, but Toronto FC are still waiting to receive final documentation from the Spanish Football Federation to allow Mista to make his debut.

Mista travelled with the team to Philadelphia in the hope that the necessary clearance would be received in time for the game, but will not have to watch on from the stands as Preki’s team attempts to extend their unbeaten run to nine league matches.

Earlier in the week, Preki indicated that Mista was highly unlikely to start the game, but may be used as a substitute.

Toronto FC lineup: Frei, Gargan, Attakora, Cann, Garcia, de Guzman, Sanyang, LaBrocca,  De Rosario, Ibrahim, Barrett.

Preki will go with a 4-3-3 formation with Fuad Ibrahim and Dwayne De Rosario either side of Chad Barrett up front.

With Mista not available to play, Toronto will only have six substitutes instead of seven.
