Trotters Touch Down At BMO Field

Bolton Wanderers trained at BMO Field on Tuesday morning ahead of Wednesday night’s Carlsberg  Cup international friendly against Toronto FC.

The English Premier League team arrived in Canada on Sunday night after spending last week in the United States. They have won both of their games so far on their preseason tour without conceding a goal. They started with a 3-0 win over Charlotte Eagles and then won 2-0 at Charleston Battery on Saturday.

United States international midfielder Stuart Holden has now joined the Bolton squad after missing the first two matches of the tour. Holden was given time off by manager Owen Coyle after returning from South Africa where he was part of the U.S. World Cup squad. The former Houston Dynamo midfielder trained with the Wanderers squad on Tuesday morning.

He told the Bolton Wanderers official team website that he is looking forward to being back at BMO Field and meeting some old friends. “Toronto are a really well supported team. It will be nice to play there again because it is the closest you will get to an English atmosphere.”

“Dwayne De Rosario is their best player and a good friend of mine because I played with him at Houston. He can produce the wow factor, while Julian de Guzman played in La Liga and the also have a new, young goalkeeper called Stefan Frei.”

“It will be the toughest test of the preseason so far and they are good opponents before we head back to England,” Holden told www.bwfc.co.uk.
