HOME SWEET HOME
Following three road matches to begin the new MLS campaign, Toronto FC return home to host Chicago Fire FC in their 2025 home opener at BMO Field this Saturday afternoon. The Reds hold an 9W-6L-3T all-time record through their first 18 MLS home openers and will be looking for back-to-back home opener victories after the Reds downed Charlotte FC by a 1-0 scoreline on March 9, 2024. Historically, TFC have kept clean sheets in six of the club’s nine home opener victories, a number Robin Fraser and the Reds will be keen to add to this weekend in familiar surroundings.

AN ODE TO THE PAST
Toronto FC host 1998 MLS expansion club Chicago Fire FC for the 40th encounter in the all-time series between the two clubs. Historically, TFC hold a 14W-12L-13T record through their first 39 regular season meetings with the Fire. The two clubs have previously faced off in Toronto on 21 separate occasions, with the Reds holding a combined 10W-5L-6T record at BMO Field. Prior to the Fire’s road victory in June 2024, TFC had recorded a 12-match unbeaten run (7W-5T) against Chicago at BMO Field, dating back to September 11, 2013. The Reds will be looking for their first home victory against Chicago Fire since a goal from Deandre Kerr and a brace from Alejandro Pozuelo gave the club a 3-2 win on May 28, 2022, at BMO Field.
STEP BY STEP
After earning a point following a 2-2 draw against D.C. United in their 2025 MLS season opener, the Reds dropped a pair of road results in Orlando and Cincinnati in Matchdays 2 and 3. On March 1, second-half goals from Sigurd Rosted and Deybi Flores were not enough to prevent the Reds sliding to a 4-2 loss to Orlando City at Inter&Co Stadium. A week later, FC Cincinnati recorded a 2-0 home win, courtesy of goals from Kévin Denkey from the penalty spot and Yuya Kubo at TQL Stadium in Ohio, leaving the Reds in search of their first victory of the season and the club’s first under new Head Coach Robin Fraser. On the night, new signings Zane Monlouis and Ola Brynhildsen made their first starts for Toronto FC, while Nicksoen Gomis, Kosi Thompson, Matty Longstaff and Tyrese Spicer earned their first starts of the 2025 season.

RED OF ALL REDS
This Saturday afternoon, Toronto FC will debut their new Club Kit for the first time when they take to the pitch at BMO Field. Dubbed the “Red of all Reds,” the uniform seamlessly blends three hues of red on the club’s palette past and present including Shadow Red, Active Red and TFC Red. The 2025 strip design weaves together reds, both light and dark, and represents the club and the city’s diversity, connecting to TFC’s Global Toronto Area campaign which launched last season. The Global Toronto Area jocktag returns on the kit alongside the ‘All For One’ club mantra which is found on the neck tag. As the colour sported when Canadians play on the global stage and an iconic visual representation of TFC’s community, the new red kit embodies players, fans, club and city coming together as one. Fans can purchase the 2025 Club Kit at Real Sports Apparel kiosks at BMO Field this Saturday or online at MLSstore.com and Shop.RealSports.ca.
THE HUNT BEGINS … AT HOME
Toronto FC’s passionate fans are in for an exciting in-stadium experience at BMO Field this season. An all-new opening ceremony, part of the club’s Hunt for Glory campaign, will set the stage for an unforgettable atmosphere. Created in 2024, one of the new, exciting additions is The Guardian, an imposing 11-foot steel hawk that will come to life at BMO Field as part of the pre-game spectacle. Adding to the excitement, a live hawk will lead Toronto FC out of the tunnel at BMO Field, symbolizing the beginning of the unified hunt. Fans attending the match on Saturday are encouraged to be in their seats early to witness some new rituals and feel the excitement return to the lake shore.
MILESTONE WATCH
A pair of Reds are one appearance away from recording a half-century of MLS appearances for the club. Kobe Franklin and Alonso Coello, both formerly of Toronto FC II, have made 49 appearances for TFC since joining the First Team in February and April, respectively, of the 2023 MLS season and their next league appearance will each be their 50th MLS appearance for the Reds.
