Toronto FC (5W-13L-12T, 27 points) extended their unbeaten streak to six matches with a 1-1 road tie against the Columbus Crew (13W-7L-11T, 50 points) courtesy of Richie Laryea’s second-half equalizer at Lower.com Field on Saturday night.
Toronto FC Head Coach Robin Fraser made four changes from last weekend’s lineup against New England Revolution with Kobe Franklin, Kevin Long, Lazar Stefanović and Deandre Kerr making way for Richie Laryea, Sigurd Rosted, Kosi Thompson and Derrick Etienne Jr.
TFC were forced into early defensive action when Wessam Abou Ali burst through on a counter-attack, but Djordje Mihailovic and Richie Laryea recovered well to snuff out the danger and deny Columbus an opener in the early stages.
The hosts, however, struck first nine minutes later when Palestinian forward Abou Ali latched onto Max Arfsten’s pass and finished coolly in the 16th minute, a strike that stood as the lone goal of the opening half.
The Reds pulled level with a well-worked move of their own six minutes into the restart. Captain Jonathan Osorio collected a short pass from Derrick Etienne Jr. before sliding a perfectly weighed through ball into the path of Richie Laryea, whose marauding run was capped with a powerful low finish beyond goalkeeper Patrick Schulte.
The 51st minute strike, a product of the Toronto connection, saw hometown duo combine as Laryea opened his 2025 account and Osorio recorded his fifth goal contribution (three goals, two assists) of the 2025 MLS campaign.
Both sides exchanged opportunities for the remainder of the clash in the Buckeye State, in search of a game-winner on the night. Toronto’s Luka Gavran made a crucial, instinctive save to deny Andrés Herrera in stoppage time, but with neither side able to find a breakthrough, the conference rivals settled for a point apiece – marking TFC’s sixth consecutive tie in MLS play.
The Reds return home to host Inter Miami CF in their penultimate home match of the 2025 MLS season on Saturday, September 27. Kick-off from BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario is set for 4:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and on TSN4 in Canada.
