Academy sides enjoying strong start to inaugural USSDA season

Three Toronto FC Academy teams are enjoying a strong start to their inaugural  USSDA campaigns. Both the Toronto FC U-15 and U-17 teams are undefeated to date.


The U-15s are currently 8-0-1 and sit atop the Mid-American Division with 25 points. They have amassed a league-high 44 goals for and have conceded just 5 times equaling an impressive +39 goal difference. The top three teams in each division are guaranteed a playoff spot.


Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty and Hugo Mbongue are both currently in the top 10 in goals in the league. Mbongue is in 9th with eight goals and Marshall-Ruty sits in second place with 13 goals.


The team has put up six clean sheets in their nine games. Dino Bontis has earned four shutouts while Adisa De Rosario has picked up two.


The U-17 team has an identical 8-0-1 record and sit atop the Mid-American Division. They have found the back of the net 35 times and conceded 12 goals.


Jacen Russell-Rowe is second in the league in scoring with 13 goals while Malik Henry is in 7th with seven goals. Goalkeeper Eleias Himaras has picked up three clean sheets thus far.


After a difficult start to the season, the U-19 team has won 4 of their last five games. At 4-4-1 they sit tied for third in the Mid-American Division on points but boast a division plus 11 goal differential.


Zak Abdi leads the team in scoring with six goals in eight games and both keepers, Spencer King and Michael DeLeo, have picked up two clean sheets a piece.


The teams have a few games left before the USSDA goes on a winter break, resuming in late March. All three teams have set themselves up nicely for qualifying for the USSDA playoffs that kickoff in June.
