Academy Playoff Action Tonight

Canadian Soccer League Playoff action kicks off for Toronto FC’s Senior Academy Team tonight when they play the home leg of their Quarterfinal against Hamilton Croatia. Kick off is 9:00 p.m. at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke.

The young Reds fell at the first stage of the playoffs last year and after a sixth place finish in the league this season, Senior Team Head Coach Jason Bent believes his team is capable of achieving success.

“The team has done very well over the course of the season,” said Bent. “We have had a number of different challenges and have lost a number of players to the first team and university scholarships, but we have brought in younger players and they have settled in very well.”

“We have reached our first objective of making the playoffs and now we want to get past the first round. We know we are facing a very difficult opponent but we feel confident that we can get a good result. They have got a couple of quick strikers and strong midfielders with experience. We will have to find a way to break down their resolute defence.”

The second leg will be played in Hamilton on Sunday.
