Toronto FC announced today the club has agreed to a contract extension with winger Dániel Sallói through the 2027 Major League Soccer season, with an option for the 2027-28 season.

“We are happy to formally announce the extension of Dániel at this time. Prior to joining our club, we discussed with Dániel both our intentions regarding his role in our project and a revised contractual commitment,” said Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez. “It was our belief that Dániel should not arrive at TFC on an expiring contract; therefore, we aligned on terms for his extension before he joined us in February. This step has allowed him to focus solely on integrating with the team and performing his best during the beginning of the 2026 season. We look forward to the continued work together this year and beyond.”

Sallói, 29, joined Toronto FC ahead of the 2026 MLS season and has had an immediate impact on TFC’s attack. Through four matches in MLS action, the winger has registered two goals, including the winning goal against FC Cincinnati on March 8.

Prior to his move to Toronto FC, Sallói spent the past 10 (2016-2026) years with Sporting Kansas City FC, where he made 253 appearances in MLS, contributing 59 goals and 45 assists. Sallói originally signed with Sporting KC as a Homegrown Player in 2016, becoming the fourth all-time Homegrown Player in club history. He made his Sporting debut when he came off the bench against Colorado Rapids on April 9, 2017.

In his debut season, Sallói scored the game-winning goal in the U.S. Open Cup Final against Red Bull New York, helping Sporting Kansas capture the trophy in 2017. During the 2018 season, the attacker enjoyed one of his most successful seasons, being named the club’s 2018 Golden Boot winner, tallying 16 goals and seven assists in all competitions and helping Sporting to first place in the Western Conference. In 2021, Sallói was named an MLS All-Star and was a finalist for both the Landon Donovan MVP and the MLS Comeback Player of the Year awards, after recording 16 goals and 10 assists in all competitions. In his 10 years with Sporting Kansas, the winger made a combined 287 appearances, registering 67 goals and 47 assists in all competitions.

Internationally, Sallói has earned four caps for the Hungarian National Team including his debut in a 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against England on September 2, 2021.
