Historically, Toronto hold a 5W-6L-8T record across their previous 19 encounters, while holding the edge in postseason play after beating Atlanta 2-1 in the 2019 MLS Eastern Conference Final. Earlier this season, Toronto fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Five Stripes at BMO Field on April 25. ONE STEP FORWARD
The Reds enter Matchday 34 after returning to winning ways against D.C. United in midweek MLS action. On October 24, TFC saw their three-match unbeaten run come to an end with a 4-2 road defeat against Columbus Crew at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field. Columbus took control with first-half goals from Gonzalo Tapia and Malte Amundsen before a second from Amundsen and another from Brooks Lennon extended the hosts’ lead to four in the 59th minute. The Reds responded through Dániel Sallói in the 69th minute before Josh Sargent pulled another goal back in the 81st minute, but Columbus held on to secure all three points in Ohio. Sargent’s goal marked his 10th goal contribution of the season (eight goals, two assists), while Emilio Aristizábal registered his first assist for TFC.
Four nights later, TFC staged a late comeback to record a 2-1 victory over D.C. United in their 2026 MLS regular season home finale at BMO Field. The Black-and-Red took the lead through Andre Dozzell before the Reds responded with a second-half equalizer from Jonathan Osorio and completed the turnaround in the closing stages through Josh Sargent’s 86th minute strike. Toronto’s defensive rearguard then held firm in stoppage time to preserve the advantage and secure all three points at home. With the victory, the Reds remain unbeaten in eight home matches since the FIFA World Cup 2026™ break, recording four wins and four ties at BMO Field dating back to August 15.

TEAM OF THE MATCHDAY
On Thursday, TFC forward Josh Sargent was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday (bench) for Matchday 33 following his standout performance in the Reds’ 2-1 comeback victory against D.C. United. Trailing by a goal in the second half, TFC found an equalizer when Djordje Mihailovic’s in-swinging corner was headed on by Sargent, with the ball deflecting off Jonathan Osorio’s back and past former Red Sean Johnson in the D.C. United goal. The Reds then completed the turnaround in the closing stages, as a slick team move ended with Theo Corbeanu’s left-footed strike hitting the post and falling to Sargent, who calmly guided home the rebound to give TFC the lead. The 86th minute strike marked the ninth goal of the season for the Reds’ number 9 and ultimately proved to be the game-winner, as the hosts held on for a 2-1 victory and an important three points to keep the team’s MLS Cup Playoffs hopes alive.
In addition to his two-goal contribution performance, Sargent’s industrious work rate was evident throughout the night. The American forward led the Reds in shots (4), key passes (4) and top speed (34.11 km/hr), while ranking among the team’s top five in high-speed runs (3), distance covered (10.06 km) and sprints (10). With goals in consecutive MLS matches for the first time this season, Sargent’s all-round display helped the Reds return to winning ways and secure the club’s third victory in their last five MLS matches. The honour marks Sargent’s team-leading fourth MLS Team of the Matchday selection since joining the Reds in February. In total, Toronto FC have now earned 15 MLS Team of the Matchday selections during the 2026 MLS regular season – Josh Sargent (4), Niklas Dorsch (2), Luka Gavran (2), Emilio Aristizábal (1), José Cifuentes (1), Theo Corbeanu (1), Richie Laryea (1), Jonathan Osorio (1), Dániel Sallói (1) and Walker Zimmerman (1).

HISTORIC HOMETOWN HERO
Club captain Jonathan Osorio made Toronto FC and Major League Soccer history against D.C. United on Wednesday night. The midfielder scored the Reds’ equalizer when Josh Sargent’s header deflected off his back and into the net in the 64th minute. The goal marked Osorio’s 70th for his hometown club, making him the third player in club history to reach the milestone following Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore.
With his appearance and goal, Osorio has now played and scored in each of his 14 seasons with Toronto FC (2013-2026), extending his all-time club records. The Toronto, Ontario native also became the first active player and the seventh player in MLS history to have played in at least 14 seasons and score in each of those seasons, joining Steve Ralston, Jaime Moreno, Jeff Cunningham, Dwayne De Rosario, Landon Donovan and Brad Davis. Osorio also became the first player in MLS history to score in 14 consecutive seasons for a single club, surpassing Chris Wondolowski’s record of scoring in 13 successive seasons (2009-2021) for the San Jose Earthquakes.

ONCE A FIVE STRIPE
Toronto FC winger Derrick Etienne Jr. previously spent two seasons (2023, 2024) with Atlanta United, where he made 27 appearances and recorded two assists for the Five Stripes.
