Toronto FC picked up three big points in front of a home crowd at BMO Field, topping D.C. United 2-1 on Saturday night.

The Reds struck first from a set piece with Lorenzo Insigne whipping in a dangerous ball into the area from a corner kick in the 14th minute. Academy product Deandre Kerr rose up to nod it past United goalkeeper Tyler Miller for the 1-0 lead.

The game-winning goal came in the 72nd minute with Insigne once again playing provider. The Italian international cut back a pass to find Kosi Thompson who made no mistake with the finish.

D.C. would claw one back in the 87th minute through Christian Benteke, but the Reds held firm to ensure all three points at home.

TFC face a quick turnaround on Wednesday night as they take on the Chicago Fire at BMO Field on May 31.
