Toronto FC visit 2022 MLS expansion club Charlotte FC for the sixth encounter in the all-time series between the two clubs. TFC hold a 3W-1L-1T record through their first five meetings with the Crown. The two Eastern Conference clubs have previously faced off at Bank of America Stadium on two occasions, with both sides winning an encounter each at the multi-purpose stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. TFC will be looking for their first road victory against the Crown since recording a 2-0 win in their first away match against Charlotte, courtesy of goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi, at the Bank of America Stadium on August 27, 2022. Most recently, the Reds beat Charlotte FC by a 1-0 scoreline, courtesy of Lorenzo Insigne’s MLS Goal of the Matchday winner, in their 2024 MLS Home Opener on March 9.

THE CLIMB CONTINUES

Toronto FC enter the match fresh off a loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps, after the Western Conference club scored two goals in each half at BC Place in British Columbia last Saturday. The result ended the Reds’ five-match goalscoring streak, where the club scored six goals and recorded three wins in five matches during the month of March.

FIFTY AND COUNTING

A trio of Toronto FC players from the club’s current active roster recently made their 50th appearance for the club across all competitions. Most recently against Vancouver last Saturday, Homegrown product Kosi Thompson made his 50th appearance for the Reds, becoming the eighth current TFC player to reach the milestone. American defender Shane O’Neill reached the milestone against Sporting Kansas City on March 30, 2024, while Italian winger Federico Bernardeschi made his 50th TFC appearance against Charlotte FC in the club’s 2024 Home Opener on March 9. GREENER GOALS

Major League Soccer’s seventh annual Greener Goals Week of Service highlights League-wide activations and raising awareness for environmental issues throughout the soccer community. Inspired by reforestation and natural ecosystems, all MLS clubs, including Toronto FC and Charlotte FC, will be sporting adidas One Planet pre-match jerseys in celebration of Earth Week this Saturday. Titled “One Planet. One Chance.”, the pre-match jerseys are made from recycled materials and come in three distinct colors representing the Woods, Soil and Water. Toronto FC’s 2024 One Planet pre-match jersey will be available to purchase at MLSstore.ca and Real Sports Apparel.

To amplify efforts surrounding reforestation, MLS is also partnering with One Tree Planted to plant 1,000 trees on behalf of each MLS community, up to 29,000 trees across the League. Fans will have the opportunity to support this initiative – for every social post using #GreenerGoals, MLS and One Tree Planted will plant one tree as part of large-scale reforestation projects taking place in the U.S. and Canada. This campaign will aim to reforest 68 acres of land to provide cleaner air and water, stored carbon, stabilized soils and improved biodiversity.
