TFC26-ROS-FullTime-16x9-FT-1028

Toronto FC (9W-11L-12T, 39 points) recorded a dramatic, come-from-behind 2-1 victory against D.C. United (7W-13L-12T, 33 points) in their 2026 MLS regular season home finale on Wednesday evening, courtesy of  second-half goals from Jonathan Osorio and Josh Sargent at BMO Field.

Toronto FC Head Coach Robin Fraser made a pair of changes from Saturday’s road defeat against Columbus Crew with Zane Monlouis and Lewis Morgan making way for Nicksoen Gomis and Dániel Sallói in the starting eleven.

D.C. United opened the scoring in the 29th minute as Silvan Hefti and Matti Peltola combined to set up Andre Dozzell for a low, left-footed finish.

TFC found an equalizer when Djordje Mihailovic’s in-swinging corner was headed on by Josh Sargent, with the ball deflecting off Jonathan Osorio’s back and past former Red Sean Johnson in the D.C. United goal.

The 64th minute equalizer marked Osorio’s first goal of the season and Sargent’s 11th goal contribution (eight goals, three assists). With the effort, the club captain has now played and scored in each of his fourteen seasons with Toronto FC (2013-2026), extending all-time TFC club records.

The Reds then completed the second-half turnaround when Theo Corbeanu’s left-footed strike hit the post and fell to Josh Sargent, who calmly guided home the rebound.

The 86th minute strike Sargent’s ninth goal of the season and handed Toronto FC a late advantage heading into the closing minutes at BMO Field.

The hosts’ defensive rearguard held firm in the closing stages to preserve their advantage and secure all three points at home, successfully completing the 2-1 comeback victory over D.C. United at BMO Field. With the win, the Reds move their MLS regular season home finale record to 10W-5L-5T across their first 20 MLS seasons.

Toronto FC visit the Peach State next to face Atlanta United in their penultimate 2026 MLS regular season match against Atlanta United on Sunday, November 1. Kick-off from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia is set for 4:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast globally in English and Spanish on Apple TV.
