HOME SWEET HOME
Toronto FC wrap up an action-packed month of May on Saturday evening with the first of two regular season meetings against Charlotte FC. The Reds, who played their 300th MLS regular season home game on Wednesday, hold a 123W-98L-79T all-time record (448 points) in MLS regular season matches played on home soil to date.

AN ODE TO THE PAST
Toronto FC host 2022 MLS expansion side Charlotte FC for the seventh encounter in the all-time series between the two clubs. Historically, TFC hold a 3W-2L-1T head-to-head record through their first six meetings with the Crown in regular season play and remain unbeaten in three matches at BMO Field (2W-1T) since their first meeting in July 2022. The Reds will look to replicate last season’s home victory against the Crown, when Lorenzo Insigne’s goal secured a 1-0 win in their 2024 MLS home opener on March 9, 2024.
STEP BY STEP
The Reds complete a three-game home stand on Saturday following back-to-back 2-1 losses in MLS play – falling narrowly to Eastern Conference clubs Nashville SC and Philadelphia Union.
On May 24, TFC fell short in a late comeback bid against Nashville SC at BMO Field. English forward Sam Surridge netted a second-half brace to give the visitors a two-goal cushion. Toronto responded in stoppage injury when captain Jonathan Osorio, returning from injury, unleashed a thunderous strike from distance into the top corner. American forward Charlie Sharp recorded his first assist for the club on the club, which ultimately only proved to be a consolation on the night.
Four nights later, Toronto FC were on the wrong end of a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union at BMO Field. The Reds opened the scoring in the 75th minute when Ola Brynhildsen latched onto a long pass from Deybi Flores and fired a powerful shot in off the crossbar. The Union, however, mounted a late comeback with Nathan Harriel heading home the equalizer from Kai Wagner’s 86th minute corner. Wagner then sealed the come-from-behind win in stoppage time, as his long-range effort took a deflection before finding the net to secure all three points.
FIFTY UP
On Wednesday, Englishman Matty Longstaff made his 50th appearance across all competitions for Toronto FC since joining the club in February 2024. The midfielder became the 13th active player to reach the 50-match mark for the Reds, following in the footsteps of teammates Jonathan Osorio, Richie Laryea, Federico Bernardeschi, Kosi Thompson, Deandre Kerr, Lorenzo Insigne, Raoul Petretta, Sean Johnson, Alonso Coello, Sigurd Rosted, Kobe Franklin and Deybi Flores.

CELEBRATING INDIGENOUS HERITAGE
TFC will host their annual Indigenous Heritage Night this Saturday at BMO Field. As a valued part of the Reds’ All For One community, Saturday’s proceedings will feature a live pre-match welcome from Councillor Jesse Herkimer from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The celebration will be highlighted by a special half-time performance featuring Powwow Fancy Dancers led by two-time World Champion Hoop Dancer, Lisa Odjig. Known for its fast-paced and graceful movements, Fancy Dance is a vibrant powwow style characterized by brightly decorated shawls that complement their outfits. The dancers will be accompanied by members of Bear Creek, a Grammy-nominated Ojibwe drum group renowned for their powerful Northern-style drumming and singing along with their commitment to Indigenous arts, culture and community.

ONCE A RED
Toronto FC will come up against a familiar face in Charlotte FC’s Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty on Saturday, marking the first meeting since the former Red was traded to CF Montréal in August 2024. A product of the TFC Academy, Marshall-Rutty became the youngest player in club history to sign for TFC’s First Team when he signed as a 15-year-old on January 22, 2020. The Homegrown winger made his debut later that year against Philadelphia Union on October 24 and went on to record one goal and eight assists in 83 combined appearances over five seasons (2020 – 2024) with the Reds. After making 16 appearances for CF Montréal across the 2024 and 2025 MLS seasons, the Brampton, Ontario native joined Charlotte FC on loan in April, where he has since registered three assists in eight combined appearances.
