STEP BY STEP
The Reds enter Matchday 15 fresh off an emphatic 6-1 road victory against CF Montréal in their Rivalry Week clash last Saturday. TFC struck first through Tyrese Spicer in the 14th minute before Montréal’s Joel Waterman was shown a straight red card, reducing the hosts to 10 men midway through the first half. Toronto capitalized on the advantage, scoring quick-fire goals from Federico Bernardeschi and Ola Brynhildsen to take a three-goal lead into the break. Bernardeschi completed his brace ten minutes into the restart, before the Bleu-blanc-noir pulled one back through Giacomo Vrioni in the 64th minute. Substitute Theo Corbeanu added a late brace of his own in the final 25 minutes, sealing the 6 – 1 result at Stade Saputo. The match also saw Canadian defender Lazar Stefanovic start his first MLS match for TFC and marked the first time the Reds have scored six goals in an MLS match in club history.

TEAM OF THE MATCHDAY
TFC’s Federico Bernardeschi and Theo Corbeanu were named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 14 as starters, while Ola Brynhildsen earned a spot as a substitute, following their electric performances in Toronto’s historic 6-1 victory over CF Montréal in the latest Rivalry Week clash at Stade Saputo. The Reds’ attacking trio contributed to all six of Toronto’s goals in the latest edition of the ‘401 Derby,’ with Bernardeschi scoring his third brace for the club, Corbeanu notching his first and Brynhildsen registering both his first goal and first assist for the Reds.
Italian winger Federico Bernardeschi delivered an all-action, Man of the Match performance, playing a role in four of TFC’s six goals. He doubled the Reds’ lead in the first half with a powerful right-footed finish and provided a secondary assist on Brynhildsen’s 33rd minute strike. After the restart, Bernardeschi unleashed an unstoppable long-range effort before setting up Corbeanu’s second goal, completing a club-first two goal and two assist outing. Canadian winger Theo Corbeanu, celebrating his 23rd birthday, made an immediate impact off the bench, scoring a brace that included a driven left-footed strike in the 66thminute and a perfectly timed chip over Montréal keeper Sébastian Breza in stoppage time. Norwegian forward Ola Brynhildsen assisted Tyrese Spicer’s opening goal and opened his own account twenty minutes later with a composed, side-footed finish. In total, Toronto FC have now earned seven MLS Team of the Matchday selections during the 2025 MLS regular season – Sean Johnson (2), Federico Bernardeschi (2), Ola Brynhildsen (1), Theo Corbeanu (1) and Lorenzo Insigne (1).
