The Reds will look to bounce back in the second of their seven MLS matches this May. Historically, TFC hold a 12W-18L-13T record through their first 43 regular season meetings with the Black-and-Red and the Reds will be looking to record their first home victory over D.C. United since May 2023.
HOME SWEET HOME
Toronto FC play hosts to D.C. United at BMO Field for their sixth home match of the 2025 MLS regular season on Saturday afternoon. After their opening five matches in Toronto this season, the Reds hold a 122W-95L-79T all-time record (445 points) in MLS regular season matches played on home soil to date.

AN ODE TO THE PAST
TFC take on D.C. United, one of Major League Soccer’s ten original founding clubs in 1996, for the 44th encounter in the all-time series between the two clubs. Historically, TFC hold a 12W-18L-13T record through their first 43 regular season meetings with the Black-and-Red. The two Eastern Conference sides most recently met in their 2025 MLS season opener, which ended in a 2-2 draw at Audi Field on February 22. Goals from TFC’s Jonathan Osorio and Federico Bernardeschi cancelled out strikes from Boris Enow and Christian Benteke in the nation’s capital. The Reds will be looking to record their first home victory against Saturday’s opponents since goals from Homegrown duo Deandre Kerr and Kosi Thompson lifted the Reds to a 2-1 victory over D.C. United on May 27, 2023.
STEP BY STEP
Toronto FC head into Saturday’s match on the back of consecutive league losses to New York City FC and New England Revolution. On April 29, the Reds began a four-game home stretch with a 1-0 defeat to NYCFC, courtesy of Alonso MartÃnez’s penalty kick, ending the club’s four-match unbeaten run from March 29 to April 19. A week later, TFC fell 2-0 to New England at BMO Field, with first-half goals from Carles Gil and Leo Campana sealing the result for the visitors.
In domestic cup action, TFC played to a 2-2 draw with CF Montréal in the preliminary round of the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship at BMO Field on April 30. Goals from Theo Corbeanu and Tyrese Spicer were cancelled out by equalizers from Joel Waterman and Giacomo Vrioni. Toronto FC were then eliminated after a 3-2 loss in the ensuing penalty shootout on Wednesday evening.
MILESTONE WATCH
Deybi Flores has currently made 49 appearances for Toronto FC and his next appearance will be his 50th for the Reds across all competitions (Major League Soccer, Canadian Championship and Leagues Cup). The Honduran midfielder made his club debut against FC Cincinnati on February 25, 2024, and has featured in 10 of Toronto FC’s 11 MLS matches this season, scoring one goal and recording 17 aerial duels won and clearances through 698 minutes in 2025.

ONCE A RED
Similar to New England Revolution last weekend, D.C. United’s roster features a pair of off-season additions who previously played for Toronto FC. Canadian defender Lukas MacNaughton joined TFC from Pacific FC (Canadian Premier League) in January 2022, and made 31 appearances over two seasons (2022, 2023) before joining Nashville SC via trade in April 2023. After two seasons with the Boys in Gold, MacNaughton signed with D.C. United in December 2024 and has made six MLS appearances in 2025.
American midfielder Brandon Servania joined D.C. United as a free agent following two seasons (2023, 2024) with Toronto FC. He made 31 appearances in his debut campaign before an ACL injury in October 2023 limited him to just three substitute appearances the following year. The box-to-box midfielder has made eight MLS appearances for the Black-and-Red this season.
