MATCH RECAP | Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3 – 0 Toronto FC

TFC26-ROS-FullTime-16x9

Toronto FC (0W-2L-0T, 0 points) dropped a 3-0 road result against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (2W-0L-0T, 3 points) on Saturday evening at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Toronto FC Head Coach Robin Fraser made one change from last weekend’s road loss against FC Dallas with Dániel Sallói coming in for Malik Henry for his first club start.

The evening’s first clear chance fell to Vancouver’s Brian White, whose 12th minute effort was denied by an outstretched save from TFC goalkeeper Luka Gavran.

The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 25th minute after Aziel Jackson was fouled by Walker Zimmerman inside the area. German midfielder Thomas Müller stepped up and converted from 12 yards to hand Vancouver the lead.

The Whitecaps doubled their advantage 12 minutes later when the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner Müller side-footed home after Mathias Laborda’s flicked header redirected Sebastian Berhalter’s out-swinging corner into his path.

Vancouver added a third before half-time, with Brian White finishing from close range following another dangerous corner delivery from Sebastian Berhalter.

TFC Head Coach Robin Fraser made two changes at the break, introducing Raheem Edwards and Zane Monlouis in place of Kobe Franklin and Kosi Thompson. Monlouis, who joined the club in February 2025, marked his return with his first appearance since June 25, 2025, after recovering from a season-ending injury sustained against Red Bull New York.

Djordje Mihailovic appeared to pull one back TFC in the 55th minute, only for his effort to be ruled out by a late offside flag by the assistant referee.

The visitors pushed for a response through efforts from Dániel Sallói, José Cifuentes, Derrick Etienne Jr. and Emilio Aristizábal in the second half. However, they were unable to find a breakthrough as Vancouver claimed all three points in the all-Canadian matchup with a 3-0 victory.

Toronto FC head to the Buckeye State next to visit FC Cincinnati on Sunday, March 8. Kick-off from TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast globally on Apple TV.
