Toronto FC forward Josh Sargent has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday (bench) for Matchday 6 following his match-winning performance in the Reds’ dramatic 3-2 win against Colorado Rapids at BMO Field.

Trailing by two goals and with both sides down to 10 men, Toronto FC opened their scoring in the 65th minute. On the play, Josh Sargent found Richie Laryea on the right flank and his shot beat Colorado goalkeeper Zack Steffen at the near post to cut the deficit in half

The strike marked Sargent’s first assist for Toronto FC since joining the club in February.

After Colorado were reduced to nine men and TFC equalized through an unusual Zack Steffen own goal, Sargent then rose highest to head home Alonso Coello’s corner and complete the Reds’ second-half comeback.

The 85th minute winner marked Sargent’s first goal for his new club and secured a 3-2 victory, as the Reds recorded back-to-back wins and extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

The honour marks Josh Sargent’s first MLS Team of the Matchday selection with Toronto FC in his third appearance with the Reds. In total, Toronto FC have now earned three MLS Team of the Matchday selections during the 2026 MLS regular season – Richie Laryea (1), Josh Sargent (1), Walker Zimmerman (1).
