Toronto FC forward Theo Corbeanu has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday (bench) for Matchday 30 following his electric performance in the Reds’ thrilling 3-3 draw against Orlando City SC at BMO Field on Wednesday night.
Building on a positive start, TFC took the lead when Corbeanu’s first-time cross from the right flank found Lewis Morgan, who headed the ball down and past Orlando goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau.
The 26th minute assist marked Corbeanu’s fifth of the 2026 MLS season and his 15th goal contribution (eight goals, seven assists) in MLS play for Toronto FC.
After Martín Ojeda equalized from the penalty spot, the Reds regained their advantage four minutes into the second half. Niklas Dorsch raced through on goal and saw his effort saved by Crépeau before Dániel Sallói instinctively directed the rebound into Corbeanu’s path, setting up the Canadian winger to finish from close-range.
The 49th minute strike marked Corbeanu’s 10th goal of his Toronto FC career, while his goal and assist marked his first multi-goal contribution performance in MLS play for the Reds.
Corbeanu remained a constant threat down Toronto’s right flank throughout the match as the Reds pushed for a late equalizer and winner following two quick-fire goals from Orlando City. Alongside his goal and assist, the Hamilton, Ontario native led TFC in distance covered (11.24 km), crosses (6) and key passes (3), while ranking joint-first in shots on target (2) and high-speed runs (37) on the night. His all-action display ultimately helped Toronto secure a result for the second consecutive home match and maintain the Reds’ momentum in their push for an MLS Cup Playoffs berth.
The honour marks Theo Corbeanu’s third MLS Team of the Matchday selection since joining the Reds in January 2025 and his first of the 2026 season. In total, Toronto FC have now earned 13 MLS Team of the Matchday selections during the 2026 MLS regular season – Josh Sargent (3), Niklas Dorsch (2), Luka Gavran (2), Emilio Aristizábal (1), José Cifuentes (1), Theo Corbeanu (1), Richie Laryea (1), Dániel Sallói (1) and Walker Zimmerman (1).
