Academy players honoured with League1 Ontario Awards

L1O Awards

League1 Ontario held its annual awards luncheon on Sunday and there were plenty of Toronto FC Academy players on hand to receive their year-end honours.


Kunle Dada-Luke was named a co-League1 Ontario Young Player of the Year. The 18-year-old made 13 appearances scoring six times during the regular season. Dada-Luke joins Kota Sakurai (2016) and Cyrus Rollocks (2017) as TFC Academy players to be honoured with the award. Dada-Luke was also named a 2nd team All-Star for his efforts this season.


Defender Afram Gorgees was named a League1 Ontario 1st team All-Star. The defender made 15 appearances scoring six goals leading the team in minutes played with 1231.


Midfielder Mehdi Essoussi joins Dada-Luke on the 2nd team all-star list. Essoussi, who signed with Toronto FC II for the 2019 season, made 13 League1 Ontario appearances scoring once.


Josh Moreira rounds out the honours making an appearance on the 3rd team All-Star list. The midfielder made 11 appearances scoring once.
