GA Cup Day Two Recap

U-17: Toronto FC 3, FC Cincinnati 0

Toronto FC U-17 Academy defeated FC Cincinnati U-17 Academy 3-0 in the second game of the Generation adidas Cup today at the BMO Training Ground.


Toronto FC took the lead in the 31st minute when Gabriel Pellegrino finished off a well-executed set play from a corner kick. The Reds kept their foot on the pedal, getting a goal from Hugo Mbongue in the 35th and the dayā€™s final tally from Mauro Lulli in the 80th minute. Goalkeeper Christian Calabro earned his tournament-leading second clean sheet for TFC.


The TFC U-17ā€™s record in the GA Cup now stands at 2-0. The Redsā€™ next match is on Monday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. against New York City FC U-17 Academy on Field No. 3 at BMO Training Ground.

U-15: Toronto FC 1, Orlando City SC 1 (Orlando City wins 5-4 on penalties)

Toronto FC U-15 Academy were defeated on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Orlando City SC U-15 Academy in the second game of the Generation adidas Cup today at the BMO Training Ground.


Toronto FC  took the lead in the 57th minute when Piercarlo Arghittu finished off a well-orchestrated passing sequence with a right-footed volley to the top right corner. The Reds could only hold the lead for six minutes as Orlando City SC equalized with a headed goal by Zaharia Taifi off a corner kick. Orlando City SC came out on top 5-4 in the penalty kick shootout.


The TFC U-15 record in the GA Cup now stands at 1-1. Their next match is on Monday, October 14th at 1:00 p.m. against the New York City FC U-15 Academy on Limonta Field at the BMO Training Ground.
