Rochester - On a perfect night for footy Toronto FC II pulled out their first win of the season with a complete team performance in the 2-0 victory over a veteran Nashville SC side.
The Young Reds bounced ahead as Matt Srbely was taken down by the Nashville ‘keeper C.J. Cochran. Luca Uccello stepped up and converted past Cochran to give the Reds the lead 10 minutes before the break.
Caleb Patterson-Sewell had a quiet night in his return from injury but passed the test when he was challenged by the Nashville attack late in the first half.
TFC II came out and controlled the game to start the second half and off a throw-in, they were rewarded for their efforts. Tim Kubel chucked the ball into the box where it landed on Srbely’s foot. Srbely turned and fired it home to double the Reds’ advantage.
Nashville’s efforts to break down the TFC backline were unsuccessful as Michael Rabasca’s side held on for the clean sheet and the victory.
Toronto FC II returns to action in a week as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Riverhounds. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM from PA. You can catch all the action right here on TFC2.ca.
