TFC II

Know your opponent: FC Cincinnati

Know Opp: FCC

The Young Reds close out the 2017 season against FC Cincinnati on Saturday night at the Ontario Soccer Centre. To get you set here is everything you need to know about the visitors.

2017 Season:

2017 has been a rollercoaster ride for FCC fans. In contrast to the team’s dramatic run to the US Open Cup semi-finals, their sophomore USL campaign has not been as successful. At 11-10-10, FCC currently sits in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They are currently just one point ahead of Orlando City B, who plays their final game of the season on Thursday. An OCB win or draw will make things on Saturday very interesting for FCC. FC Cincinnati has struggled away from Nippert Stadium this season with a 3-8-4 record on the road.

Current Form:

LWDWD

Loss at Ottawa Fury (4-0)

Win at Charlotte Independence (1-0)

Draw at Saint Louis FC (2-2)

Win vs. NYRB II (4-2)

Draw at Harrisburg City Islanders (1-1)

Last time we met:

The two sides last met in late May at Nippert Stadium. FCC walked away with a 1-0 victory. All-time TFC II are 0-3-0 against Cincy. Last year in Vaughan, Raheem Edwards scored for the Reds but FCC scored twice in the second half to take the match.

Key Player: Mitch Hildebrandt

The 2016 USL Goalkeeper of the Year looks poised to take home another honour this season. Hildebrandt was a key player in FCC’s Open Cup run and has been a rock for them in the USL. He has started 30 of Cincy’s 31 games this season. He has recorded seven clean sheets and stopped 98 shots.

Unsung Hero: Jimmy McLaughlin

McLaughlin has made 30 appearances for FCC this season. The winger/midfielder has recorded five goals and two assists thus far. McLaughlin made five appearances for the Philadelphia Union after signing as the second homegrown player in club history.

Canadian Content:

FC Cincinnati’s roster currently consists of two Canadians. Marco Dominguez and Mele Temguia.

Dominguez has made five appearances this season. The native of Montreal, Quebec is in his first season with Cincinnati after signing following the folding of FC Montreal. Dominguez made 37 appearances in two seasons with Montreal and scored one goal. Dominguez was a member of both the U-17 and U-20 Canadian national team.

Mele Temguia has made just a single appearance for FC Cincinnati this year. Temguia is a native of Germany but spent two seasons with FC Montreal before signing with Cincy at the beginning of this season.

Projected lineup

Alan Koch has put his team out in a 3-4-3 formation this season.
