Three Keys to the Match: New England Revolution vs. Toronto FC

NE (away) Three Keys 2018

The Reds look to bounce back with a strong performance on the road. Here are the Benjamin Moore three keys to Saturday’s match vs. the New England Revolution.
Turf Troubles

Gillette Stadium hasn’t exactly been kind to Toronto FC in recent years, proving to be a difficult hurdle to overcome.

But the Reds are hardly the only team to struggle in Foxborough, as the Revs have proven to be one of the top teams in the league on their home turf. Dropping both 2017 fixtures, TFC will look to change their fortunes on Saturday night with a strong, bounce back performance on a tricky surface.

Centerback Switch

With a litany of injuries throughout the squad, head coach Greg Vanney has been forced to shuffle his defence quite a bit, and Saturday will be no different.

Midfielder Michael Bradley continues to fill in along the backline and has done so admirably in the absence of Eriq Zavaleta, Nick Hagglund, Chris Mavinga and Justin Morrow. As players begin to return from injury, we may well see a new centerback combination against the Revs on Saturday night. Their ability to come together as a cohesive unit will be key to eraning a result in hostile territory.

Chance for Chapman

Homegrown midfielder Jay Chapman has been finding his form of late, scoring a goal against the Philadelphia Union and most recently earning a start against the Seattle Sounders.

If the Canadian is called upon to face the Revs, it will mark yet another big opportunity to showcase his talents and fight for more playing time in a crowded midfield. His ability going forward has been a bright spot for the Reds recently, and he’ll be looking to continue that strong play in New England.
