The Reds got back to winning ways in Week 23, taking their impressive home record to 9-0-3 on the season. After a 4-1 win over the Portland Timbers on Saturday night, TFC have extended their lead atop the Supporters' Shield standings courtesy of some standout performances along the way.

Head coach Greg Vanney was named the MLS Coach of the Week, making just one change from the side that drew 1-1 with D.C. United a week prior, adding Nick Hagglund to the XI for the absent Drew Moor. "The Gregfather" was forced to go the bench early, however, as Hagglund was forced off through injury, making way for Jason Hernandez. The backline hardly skipped a beat after the change, and Vanney made two more impactful substitutions with Tosiant Ricketts and Jonathan Osorio entering the fray in the second half to help seal the win.

Wingback Justin Morrow had himself a night, opening the scoring in the second half before completing his first-career brace minutes later.

“I don't think I was having the easiest time when I came back from the [US men's] national team,” Morrow said postmatch. “It wasn't easy for me. It feels like a weight off my shoulders to get the goals tonight, help the team.”

Marky Delgado continued to cement himself as a force to be reckoned with in the TFC midfield, scoring his second goal of the season to put a bow on the win after picking up an assist on another Victor Vazquez tally.
