Toronto FC II saw their three-game unbeaten streak snapped on Sunday, falling 2-1 to visitors FC Cincinnati.
With the loss TFC II’s record falls to 1-1-2 on the season.
Raheem Edwards scored yet again for the Young Reds. Edwards now has four goals in 2016 and has scored in each match this season.
Head Coach Jason Bent made several changes in the lineup from the one that started against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds last week.
Toronto FC loanees Quillan Roberts, Ashtone Morgan, Chris Mannella and Jay Chapman were inserted into the lineup for the match on Sunday.
TFC II opened up the scoring in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half.
Mannella found an open Edwards on the left flank. The shifty winger would then push through a pair of FC Cincinnati defenders before slotting a low shot past FC Cincinnati goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt.
Mannella had a good opportunity of his own in the 56th minute but his shot from distance curled just wide.
FC Cincinnati would equalize in the 60th minute.
Forward Andrew Wiedeman chested down Jimmy McLaughin’s cross in the box and hit a low shot past TFC II goalkeeper Quillan Roberts.
Both teams would share opportunities to net the go-ahead goal in the final 10 minutes.
FC Cincinnati’s Sean Okoli had an incredible opportunity in the 82nd minute but Roberts stood tall and made a leg save at point blank range.
Two minutes later Hildebrandt palmed away a volley by TFC II’s Sal Bernal.
He would make another outstanding save on the rebound. TFC II’s Bubacarr Jobe’s diving header looked like it was in but Hildebrandt was able to make a diving grab before the ball past the goal line.
A minute later FC Cincinnati would net the game winner.
Substitute Omar Cummings would get on the end of a cross in tight to give the visitors a 2-1 lead and ultimately the three points.
