The Top 5 TFC goals of 2014

Toronto FC’s promising start to the season didn’t end the way anybody had hoped.

Obviously the end result to the 2014 campaign was disappointing to say the least, but there were a number of chills inducing moments during the season.

Incredible free kicks, big road wins and last gasp winners feature in the top five goals of the season.

1. Gilberto's free kick screamer
Teammates fighting for the ball on the field is never a good sign. Gilberto and Jermain Defoe’s brief squabble resulted in the Brazilian winning out. The end product, a free kick that moved at video game like speed, left everyone with a smile on their face.
2. Defoe stuns Seattle in season opener
TFC delivered a massive statement of intent in arguably the toughest place to play in MLS. Jermain Defoe scored twice in his debut, leading the Reds to a huge 2-1 result in Seattle.
3. Henry's last gasp header secures the Trillium Cup
TFC had won the Trillium Cup once before back in 2011, but it was looking unlikely they would secure their second title as the minutes in the second half winded down. Not so fast. Gilberto and Defoe combined for the equalizer in the 81st and Doneil Henry’s winner, off of a Daniel Lovitz free kick, sent the denizens of BMO Field into hysterics.
4. Bradley stuns Portland
With their season on the line TFC needed a win against the Timbers at home. Things started terribly, with Portland taking a 2-0 lead in the first half. The Reds battled back however, and Michael Bradley’s goal completed a thrilling comeback.
5. Defoe goes top shelf against the Red Bulls
Bradley Orr’s perfectly weighted pass still left Defoe with a lot of work to do. The former Tottenham striker didn’t disappoint, sending a howitzer of a strike into the top corner.
