Monday Training

Toronto FC players will train behind closed doors on Monday morning, their first session at the Rogers Centre.

Head coach Aron Winter will work on tactics ahead of Wednesday’s Los Angeles Galaxy match at the venue, the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal that is expected to draw roughly 45,000 in attendance. The match will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet nationally from 7:30 p.m. ET.

Toronto FC TV will have player and coach interviews from BMO Field on Monday. The Reds will return to their traditional home for media scrums and lunch following their Rogers Centre session.

On Sunday, Toronto FC TV was at the Rogers Centre to find soccer lines had been painted. The video is available here and on YouTube.

Mariner Praise

Last Thursday, just prior to Toronto's 3-0 preseason victory over FC Dallas, director of player development Paul Mariner was a guest at the Disney VIP fan reception. The Englishman praised the Reds' preseason hosts at Orlando - from the hotel to the training facility at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex - and hoped TFC would return in 2013.

Mariner brought a few special guests with him to the fan reception and Toronto FC TV was on hand to capture the director's remarks.

BMO Field Delivers

BMO Field once again turned a profit for the City of Toronto in 2011. This time it was an increase of 72 percent over 2010 figures. The city praised the "exceptional results" on Monday.

Remembering Montreal

On February 25, 2009, Montreal Impact became the first Canadian team to host a CCL quarterfinal match. Mike Ulmer looks back at that event and in a shocking revelation, Montreal's executive Vice President admits that Rogers Centre was a prospective venue for the game against Santos Laguna.
