Medical Staff To Decide On Maicon

Toronto FC coach Preki will talk with the team’s medical staff before deciding whether to include Maicon Santos in the squad that will travel to Dallas on Friday.

The Brazilian forward has been out with a knee injury since early August but returned to training for part of Wednesday’s session and got through the whole practice in Oakville on Thursday.

“We will see if it makes sense for us to take him or give him another week,” said Preki. “I will have a conversation with the trainers but the first day in training he looked o.k.”

“We would always like to have a full squad, but we still have some good options and we are going to go to Dallas and put up a fight,” said Preki. “We have to have a good mentality because it is a tough place to play and they are a difficult team to play against.”

Ty Harden is expected to continue alongside Adrian Cann in the centre of defence. The 26-year-old made just his third league start of the season in the goalless draw at home to Real Salt Lake Last week.

“It always feels good to play,” he said. “It sucks to be out injured but that is life and part of soccer. I’m trying to take my opportunities when I get in the team. We have a lot of games coming so it will be a crazy time but we’ve had a really good week of training and I think we are up to the challenge.”
