De Rosario, Barrett Goals Lift TFC

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras - Dwayne De Rosario and Chad Barrett scored as Toronto FC advanced to the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League with a 2-2 tie with Club Deportivo Motagua on Tuesday.

Toronto advanced with a 3-2 aggregate score in the two-game series. Toronto won the opening game 1-0 last week at home on a goal from Barrett.

Former Toronto midfielder Amado Guevara scored both goals for Motagua.

It was a hard-fought result for the visitors, who had to overcome humid conditions in Tegucigalpa as well as travel problems.

The team's charter flight was scheduled to land Monday in the Honduran capital, but instead the pilot flew to San Pedro Sula after deeming that airport safer for landing. The players were then loaded onto a bus for the winding five-hour drive.

Toronto's road trip had a less-than-auspicious beginning when the team's luggage went missing on its first stop in Kansas City. The luggage showed up a couple of hours before kickoff, and Toronto went on to lose 1-0 to the Wizards on Saturday.
