As the rest of his teammates were being put through their paces on the first full day of the team's stay in Florida, Toronto FC defender Marvell Wynne trained at BMO Field on Tuesday as he prepares to leave for a training camp with the United States Men's National Team.

Wynne will fly to Los Angeles tomorrow to take part in a 10 day camp at the Home Depot Center before heading to Florida with the U.S. to take on El Salvador at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on February 24.

It is the second time so far this year that the 23-year-old has been included in a U.S. squad by Head Coach Bob Bradley. He spent much of January training with the Americans in California and played a full 90 minutes in the team's 3-1 defeat to Honduras on January 25 in Los Angeles. He'll be looking to earn his 4th cap with the team if he sees action against El Salvador.

The UCLA product hopes to continue learning from his experiences with the National Team, and believes his inclusion in the U.S. training camps can be of benefit when he returns to Toronto.

"The best way to get better is to play with the best players in your country with the national team," said Wynne. "Coach Bradley is a great coach and is always on you to perform all of the time. Just getting up to that pace in training helps you out when you come back to your team. It allows you to be a step ahead of the game and hopefully perform at your best."

The United States squad for this training camp is made up entirely of MLS players, and Wynne hopes it gives him another opportunity to stake his claim for a place on the plane to South Africa for the World Cup this summer.

"I would like to think of myself as not just another filler for the U.S. squad. The fact that this will be my second camp this year hopefully gives Bob another chance to look at me and he will have to make a couple of tough decisions down the line. You want to win all the time, and play your best all the time, and represent your country as best you can all of the time, so that is what I will try to do."

Wynne enjoyed being back with his Toronto FC teammates for the first week of preseason training and is looking forward to working under new coach Preki. "I think we all adapted well to what Preki had in mind," he said. "He is the kind of guy that will tell you exactly what he wants out of you and if you don't adapt he will tell you."

"It is a bit difficult leaving the team because I felt like I was getting into the rhythm here with the team and Preki after the first week of preseason. Hopefully I will be able to come back and just jump right back into the mix."

Now entering his fourth season in Toronto, the defender believes the squad is capable of having a successful year. "We have had another year that we have been playing together. The different coaches we have had have each brought something to the table that is their own strength. This year I think the organization is very strong and what the staff is demanding of us is going to take us to the next level."
