Training Notes: Reds Get Set For Portland

TFC vs. Portland

Toronto FC went through their final training session before Saturday’s test versus the Portland Timbers at the KIA Training Ground.

Injury wise there were few surprises. Joe Bendik remains out with a foot injury, though head coach Greg Vanney indicated the goalkeeper was close to returning. Mark Bloom trained on his own as the club awaits another MRI scan. Robbie Findley is also unavailable due to an achilles injury but is expected to rejoin the squad next week. Defenders Steven Caldwell and Clement Simonin are also out with longterm injuries.

Jozy Altidore, of course, is out for four to five weeks with a hamstring strain.

Altidore and Findley’s absence could result in Jordan Hamilton’s first start of the 2015 campaign.

“Jordan will be with [the first team] tomorrow,” said Vanney following training.

“The [key for him] is to get on the end of things, to get in the box and to make some decisive runs.” Hamilton appeared in one MLS match last year as a substitute.

Aside from the spot left vacant by Altidore there are unlikely to be any changes to the starting eleven that featured in New England.
