Toronto FC announced today that the club has signed Markus Cimermancic, Antony Curic and Jordan Faria to short-term loan agreements from Toronto FC II, the club’s MLS NEXT Pro side. Per MLS rules, the short-term agreement allows clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
Cimermancic, 18, recently signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC II on March 24, 2023 and has made six appearances for the Young Reds in MLS NEXT Pro regular season action. In 2022, the midfielder logged 985 minutes and registered two assists across 15 appearances for TFC II during the MLS NEXT Pro season. Cimermancic made his debut for the Young Reds against New York City FC II on May 8, 2022. He originally joined the TFC Academy in February 2015 and represented the Academy across all age groups after spending seven years playing with Kitchener Spirit.
Curic, 22, has been called up to the First Team two times this season and made his debut with Toronto FC as a substitute against CF Montréal on May 13. The defender originally joined Toronto FC II on December 16, 2020 and made his debut against North Texas SC on May 22, 2021. In three seasons with TFC II, Curic has made 37 appearances (29 starts) in MLS NEXT Pro and USL League One action across three seasons for Toronto FC II (2021, 2022 and 2023). He originally joined the TFC Academy in January 2020 after spending four years playing with Erin Mills Soccer Club.
Faria, 22, returned to Toronto FC II on March 22, 2023 and has scored two goals and registered one assist through five MLS NEXT Pro regular season appearances. The midfielder previously spent the past two seasons with Musan Salama (Finland, Second Division) and York United FC (Canadian Premier League), where he made 35 combined appearances and scored seven goals. In his first stint with the Young Reds, Faria made his professional debut against Pittsburgh Riverhounds on April 7, 2018 and scored two goals and registered two assists in 32 combined appearances (United Soccer League and USL League One) through two seasons (2018, 2019). Prior to the Young Reds, Faria originally joined the Toronto FC Academy in January 2012 after spending seven years playing with Brampton Youth Soccer Club.
