Toronto FC sign three Young Reds to short-term agreements

Toronto FC announced today that the club has signed defender Adam Pearlman, midfielder Markus Cimermancic and winger Jesus Batiz to short-term agreements from Toronto FC II for the club’s MLS match against St. Louis CITY SC. Per MLS rules, the short-term agreement allows clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.  

 Pearlman, 18, has made 37 appearances (36 starts) in MLS NEXT Pro action through two seasons with Toronto FC II (2022, 2023). He signed his first professional contract with TFC II on April 8, 2022 and made his debut with the Young Reds against New York City FC II on April 10. He represented Toronto FC Academy in Ontario Player Development League and U.S. Soccer Development Academy across the U-12 to U-19 age groups from 2016 to 2021. He also participated in the U-13 2018 CONCACAF Champions League with the TFC Academy in Toluca, Mexico. He originally joined the Toronto FC Academy in October 2016.

Cimermancic, 18, signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC II on March 23, 2023 after making 15 appearances for TFC II during the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season including his debut against New York City FC II on May 8, 2022. This season, the midfielder has recorded a team-high three assists and scored one goal through 14 appearances for TFC II during the MLS NEXT Pro regular season. He originally joined the TFC Academy in February 2015 and represented the Academy across all age groups after spending seven years playing with Kitchener Spirit.  

Batiz, 24, was recently called up to Toronto FC and made his First Team debut when he came on as a substitute in the 46th minute against Orlando City on July 4. He originally joined TFC II on March 21, 2023 and made his debut against FC Cincinnati 2 on March 27, 2023. He has scored a team-high six goals and added one assist through 16 appearances for Toronto FC II during the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season. Born in Tela, Honduras, Batiz previously spent time with Rochester New York FC of MLS NEXT Pro (2022) and New Amsterdam FC of the National Independent Soccer Association (2021) prior to the Young Reds.
