Toronto FC announced today the club has claimed Raheem Edwards off waivers from Red Bull New York.

"We are very happy to welcome Raheem back to Toronto," said Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez. "As a GTA native, Raheem will represent our club with the fire and competitiveness that our supporters expect. He will bolster our defensive personnel and push the demands within the group every day."

Edwards, 30, now entering his 10^th season in Major League Soccer (MLS), started his career with Toronto FC when he signed for the Reds on March 2, 2017, becoming the 14^th player in club history to sign a First Team contract from the Toronto FC Academy. The Mississauga, Ontario native was part of the historic 2017 TFC winning season, when the Reds captured the MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield and the Canadian Championship, becoming the only team to win the domestic treble in league history. Edwards also spent time with Toronto FC II for two seasons (2015, 2016), where he signed a short-term agreement with Toronto FC and made his first team debut on June 29, 2016, against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2016 Canadian Championship. In two season (2016, 2017) with Toronto FC, Edwards registered eight assists through 27 appearances in all competitions. 

Prior to his return to Toronto FC, the defender spent the 2025 MLS season with Red Bull New York, where he made 29 appearances and registered three assists across all competitions (MLS regular season, Leagues Cup and US Open Cup). Along other stops in his career, Edwards spent time with CF Montréal (2024 and 2018), LA Galaxy (2022-2023), Los Angeles FC (2021), Minnesota United (2020) and Chicago Fire (2018-2019), where he recorded eight goals and 30 assists across 178 MLS regular season matches.

At the international level, Edwards made five appearances for the Canadian Men’s National Team, making his debut on June 13, 2017, in an international friendly against Curaçao.
