Three Keys to the Match: LA Galaxy at Toronto FC

LA Three Keys 2018

Two teams fighting for their playoff lives meet at BMO Field. Here are the Benjamin Moore Three to the Match vs. LA Galaxy.
The Zlatan Show

The lion has arrived in Toronto.

International superstar Zlatan Ibrahimović will take on Toronto FC for the first time on Saturday night and is sure to put on a show. The former Sweden international has scored goals on football’s biggest stages around the world and has continued to dominated during his time in MLS.

The 36-year-old has already notched 16 goals and eight assists in 21 starts this season and will be looking to add to that tally on Saturday night. The Reds will need to defend by committee to slow down the six-foot-five target man and limit his influence on the match.

Strike Early, Strike Often

Boasting the likes of Ibrahimović, Romain Alessandrini and Giovani dos Santos, scoring goals has hardly been the problem for a Galaxy side currently sitting below the below the playoff line—their 54 goals are second-best in the Western Conference. What’s plagued LA this season has been their ineffectiveness at the back, conceding a conference-high 54 goals thus far.

With Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco back in the lineup, the Reds remain one of the top attacking teams in the league. Look for Toronto’s dynamic duo to keep the pressure on LA’s shaky defensive unit throughout the match.

Moor Goals?

Drew Moor doesn’t always score goals, but when he does, he prefers Los Angeles.

The 34-year-old defender has missed extended time through injury this season, but his return further illustrated just how instrumental his presence can be along the backline. And on top of his leadership in the heart of the defence, Moor has been a goal threat against the Galaxy, scoring in both of TFC’s last two matchups with LA. Can he make it three-for-three on Saturday?
