TFC face New England Revolution, one of the original 10 MLS clubs from the league’s inaugural 1996 season, for the 44th regular season meeting between the two sides. Historically, Toronto FC hold a 12W-17L-14T all-time record through their first 43 encounters with the Revolution. The Reds have found success in recent visits to Massachusetts, earning three wins and three draws across their last seven trips to Gillette Stadium dating back to August 2019. Toronto will now look to secure their first road victory over New England since March 2024, when Lorenzo Insigne’s late winner sealed all three points, while aiming to earn a result in three consecutive away meetings against the Revolution (1W-1T).

The latest edition of the 401 Derby proved to be a tightly contested affair, with Toronto FC goalkeeper Luka Gavran producing three saves to record his second clean sheet of the 2026 MLS season and help secure a point in Quebec. Toronto also welcomed back a pair of key players, as winger Theo Corbeanu returned from injury to make his first start since the club's 2025 MLS season finale against Orlando City SC last October, while attacking midfielder Djordje Mihailovic made his first appearance since March, coming off the bench in the 74th minute. Canadian attacker Jules-Anthony Vilsaint also made his 50th Major League Soccer appearance on the night, split between CF Montréal and Toronto FC.

Last Thursday, TFC announced the signing of Toronto FC II and TFC Academy product Richard Chukwu to a Major League Soccer contract as a Homegrown player through the 2029-30 MLS season with a club option for 2030-31. Chukwu became the 38th player in club history to sign for the First Team from the Toronto FC Academy. The 18-year-old recently signed a professional contract with Toronto FC II, where he registered two assists in 31 appearances for TFC II across three MLS NEXT Pro seasons (2024, 2025, 2026). The left-footed defender originally joined the TFC Academy in January 2020 and represented the Academy across the U-15, U-17 and U-19 age groups. At the international level, he ranks among the most frequently called-up players to Canada’s youth national teams in TFC Academy history. He has represented Canada at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels since 2022, featuring in multiple camps and competitions including the Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship, Concacaf Men’s Under-17 and Under-20 Championships and two FIFA U-17 World Cups. In November 2024, he earned a call-up to the Canadian Men’s National Team training camp under Head Coach Jesse Marsch at the age of 16 before serving as team captain for Canada at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar a year later.

Toronto FC athletes Richard Chukwu, Antone Bossenberry and Tim Fortier were officially named to the Canadian Men’s National Team for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship last Friday. The marquee U-20 tournament, taking place from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, August 9 in Mexico, will serve as direct qualification for both the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games. Defender Richard Chukwu (Toronto FC), midfielder Antone Bossenberry (Toronto FC II) and midfielder Tim Fortier (Toronto FC Academy) were all part of the 21-player squad that helped Canada secure qualification for the Concacaf U-20 Championship. Chukwu, 18, originally joined the Toronto FC Academy in January 2020 and progressed the youth ranks and TFC II before signing an MLS contract with Toronto FC as a Homegrown player on July 16, 2026. Bossenberry, 17, is currently in his second MLS NEXT Pro season with Toronto FC II after signing a professional contract with the Young Reds in October 2025. Fortier, 17, has spent two seasons with Toronto FC II as an Academy athlete, where he has made 27 appearances for the Young Reds in MLS NEXT Pro action. Les Rouges opens its tournament against Panama on July 26, followed by facing Honduras on July 29 before closing out group stage play against Jamaica on August 1. The four semi-finalists of the Concacaf U-20 Championship will secure berths to the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, while the highest-finishing Concacaf nation outside the United States will earn the region's second berth at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA. The tournament champion, along with the top finisher from each of Concacaf's Caribbean, Central American, and North American zones, will also qualify for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
