Toronto FC announced today that midfielder José Cifuentes has returned to Rangers Football Club of the Scottish Premiership following the completion of his loan with TFC.
Cifuentes, 27, made 17 appearances, 16 starts, scoring one goal and recording four assists since joining the Reds on August 22, 2025. The Esmeraldas, Ecuador native scored his first goal for the Reds on March 21, 2026, against Columbus Crew at BMO Field, helping secure a 2-1 victory during TFC’s seven-match unbeaten streak from March 8 to April 22. Cifuentes played and started in the first 10 matches of the 2026 MLS campaign where he recorded two assists in a single match for the first time in his career with the Reds against Philadelphia Union on April 22.
