Three Keys: Play Through Jozy

Jozy Altidore continues to find the back of the net for club and country. The 26-year-old bagged three goals in two games with the United States to go along with five tallies in his last seven matches for the Reds. With Giovinco out the club will rely on Altidore to carry the load offensively, but they’re going to have to play through the talented big man. The identity crafted by Paunović in Chicago stresses defence. The Reds will have to breakdown a Fire squad that will have numbers behind the ball. Altidore’s hold up play coupled with his excellent passing ability will be crucial up front.

Match Notes

  • The Chicago Fire were the winners in their last meeting, impressively blanking the Philadelphia Union, 3-0, this past weekend.
  • Toronto FC were not as fortunate the last time they played, as they were on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat to the Montreal Impact on Aug. 27.
  • This is the second of three regular-season meetings between the two Eastern Conference teams in 2016. The first game took place on July 9, when Toronto FC picked up a 1-0 win at home, and the next one will also take place at BMO Field on the final weekend of the season.
