Hassli Up For FIFA Award

Eric Hassli

It happened against Toronto but the Reds got the better of Vancouver by lifting the Voyageurs Cup and later, acquiring Eric Hassli from the Whitecaps.

The spectacular stoppage time strike by Hassli on May 16 in the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship is up for the 2012 FIFA Puskas award for the world's best goal this year. The French forward leveled the contest 1-1 at the death against his future team, before Toronto won the second leg 1-0 at BMO Field to take a fourth consecutive national title and secure Canada's only place in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Hassli's goal is up against nine other nominees, including Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, Brazil's rising superstar Neymar and Colombia's gift to La Liga Radamel Falcao.

Fans can vote for Hassli until November 29. To vote visit: The FIFA Puskas Award
